This Cat5e cable is made of 24 gauge copper wire to support a wide range of Ethernet applications such as Power over Ethernet (PoE). Because we use high-quality copper wire, our cables easily handle the power required for these types of applications. In contrast, lower-quality copper-clad aluminum cables do not handle the power required and tend to heat up, damage equipment, and potentially cause fires.
