The PEXUSB3S4V USB 3.0 PCI Express Card (with SATA Power) adds 4 external USB 3.0 ports to any PCI Express-enabled computer with support for transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps, while being backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices/ 1.x.
Enhanced with UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), this USB 3.0 controller is 70% faster than a conventional USB 3.0 port when paired with one (Note: UASP requires a compatible operating system). Using a more efficient protocol than traditional USB BOT (Bulk-Only Transport) storage, UASP optimizes transfer by allowing multiple commands to be processed simultaneously, significantly increasing transfer speeds. The card uses a vertical port configuration, which allows all four USB 3.0 ports to be on the front, while making it easier to install in a small form factor/small form factor computer thanks to the included low profile bracket.
Additionally, with an integrated SATA power connector, each USB port can provide up to 900 mA to host bus-powered devices (500 mA for USB 2.0) when connected to your computer's power supply.

Improved yield with UASP
UASP is supported by Windows 8, Server 2012 and Linux kernel 2.6.3 or later. Tests show that UASP support provides up to 70% faster read speed and up to 40% faster write speed than traditional USB 3.0 at maximum capacity.
Under the same conditions, UASP shows a reduction of up to 80% in required processor resources.
Testing was performed with an Intel Ivy Bridge system, additional StarTech.com USB 3.0 cards, a StarTech.com enclosure with UASP, and a SATA III solid state drive.
