Description
The PEXUSB3S25 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Card lets you add two USB 3.0 ports to any PCI Express-enabled computer system, with an optional LP4 power connector to plug into your system's power supply for up to 900 mA per port for USB 3.0 bus-powered devices (500 mA for USB 2.0).
Enhanced with UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), this USB 3.0 controller is 70% faster than a conventional USB 3.0 port when paired with an enclosure with UASP support (Note: UASP is not supported by all operating systems). Using a more efficient protocol than traditional USB BOT (Bulk-Only Transport) storage, UASP optimizes transfer by allowing multiple commands to be processed simultaneously, significantly increasing transfer speeds. The USB 3.0 PCI-E adapter complies with USB 3.0 standards for transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps, while being backward compatible with existing USB 2.0/1.1 devices. For added versatility, the controller board is equipped with a standard height stand and includes a low profile/half height stand for small form factor computers.

UASP is supported by Windows© 8, Server 2012 and Linux kernel 2.6.3 or later. Tests demonstrate that UASP support delivers up to 70% faster read speed and up to 40% higher write speed than the maximum capacity of traditional USB 3.0.
Under the same conditions, UASP shows a reduction of up to 80% in required processor resources.
Testing was performed using an Intel© Ivy Bridge system, StarTech.com USB 3.0 controller cards, a StarTech.com enclosure with UASP, and a SATA III SSD.
